This portion is determined by your plan coverage and can be assessed by calling your insurance company and asking the questions listed below.

The following questions may be helpful in assessing your level of coverage. Call your insurance company or representative and ask the following:

    • I am calling to verify my insurance benefits. What level of coverage for outpatient mental health counseling do I have?
    • Are there any services or treatment protocols excluded in my benefits?
    • What is my deductible (the amount you pay out of pocket before your insurance benefits begin)?
    • Has my deductible been met?
    • Are there diagnoses that this policy will not cover?
    • How many sessions per calendar (or policy) year does my plan cover?
    • How many sessions are remaining for this calendar year?
    • How much will my benefits cover for an out-of-network provider?
    • Is a referral from my primary care physician required? Or if you are a student, Is a referral from my school's health and counseling center required?
